Our Mission: The Massachusetts Foreign Language Association is a non-profit service organization committed to the professional growth of its members and to the promotion of quality teaching and learning of languages and cultures from kindergarten through the college level and beyond
Our Constituency
The Massachusetts Foreign Language Association consists of foreign language educators from all levels of instruction and all languages. Members participate actively in MaFLA's professional development opportunities and advocacy efforts.
Our Guiding Principles
- All Massachusetts students should be proficient in at least one language other than English; a variety of languages should be offered.
- The study of foreign languages is a core academic discipline.
- The Massachusetts Foreign Language Framework and its guiding principles describe the ideal status of foreign language teaching and learning
- The assessment of foreign language study should reflect the full scope of the Framework and be included in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System.
